Having the Internet allows you
to surf and search all over the world. You can send and receive email,
look up lost friends and relatives, do research, or even chat with
people around the world. The Internet is a very versatile tool. It is a
virtually endless pool of information and fun. Children can even use the
Internet to do research for school reports and play games.
We provide Dial-Up and Wireless
Internet (768/768 Kbs or 1.0 Mbs). Dial-Up is $18.00 a month. 768/768
Kbs Wireless is $34.00 a month and the 1.0 Mbs is $45.00 a month. Both
Wireless systems require an installation fee of
$500.00. (The fee includes the cost of installing the Wireless and
the equipment used.)
Wireless Internet works like
this: A small antenna is placed somewhere in the city – for example:
atop city hall, a radio tower, water tower or similar location. For up
to 5 miles, provided they have a clear line of sight, businesses and
residents then have high-speed access available to them. All that is
needed is a small antenna plugged into each computer; this is the
wireless connection. Hard wires still play a role in transferring the
data from the main city antenna to the Internet provider.
You will need to stop in at our
office and fill out a Wireless Request Form. Once you do that, one of
our technicians can come out to your location and see if you are
available to get Wireless in your area. If you are, you will need to
fill out a Wireless Registration Form, and have the first month’s
payment.
We are currently located at 330
South Main Street in downtown Anna. We are in the WIBH building directly
across from the Moose.
Our business hours are 9:00 am
to 4:00 pm. We are open Monday through Friday. We are closed on most
Federal Holidays.
All you have to do is come and
stop in at our office and fill out a form with your name, billing
address, a username and password you would like to use as your login
name / email address with us, and have a payment of $18.00 for the first
month’s service. It’s that simple. (Sorry, but we do not take new
sign-ups over the phone.)
No. There is no need for a
disk. All you have to do is follow the easy steps described on the sheet
we provide you with when you first signed up. It will have your user
info, dial-in number, and the setup instructions. If you experience any
trouble when trying to set up your internet, please call into our office
and one of our technicians will walk you through the process.
We currently accept personal
checks, money orders, and cash. We also accept PayPal. To pay by PayPal,
all you need to do is log onto our website, and follow the links for
PayPal.
Payments are due by the 16th of
EVERY month. To avoid disconnection, please remit payment by then.
The minimum requirements you
need are a computer with Windows 95 or higher, 64 MB of RAM (memory), 12
MB of free hard disk space, a 90MHz Pentium processor, and a 28.8K
modem. However, we recommend that you have a computer with Windows 98 or
higher, 128 MB of RAM (memory), 20 MB of free hard dish space, a Pentium
III processor or higher, and 56K modem. We also recommend that you have
Internet Explorer 5.0.1 or higher browser.
We suggest that you never give
out personal information. (Some examples are: names, addresses, phone
numbers, Social Security numbers, bank account numbers, etc.) This will
help you prevent possible identity theft and monetary loss. We also
suggest that you install some sort of internet security firewall and
anti-virus programs. (We suggest Norton’s or AVG Antivirus.) Also, it
is a good idea to make sure you have a spyware watch / removal program.
(We offer one on our site.) A Pop-Up stopper is also another good thing
to have. (This can also be found on our site.)
